WHY
GOTGOT?
The name Got Got emerges from the vernacular of communities who know the justice system not as an abstraction, but as a lived reality.
When someone is swept into punitive systems—wrongfully charged, unfairly sentenced, or destabilized by policies that erode health and housing—they often say they “got got.”
We honor that phrase. We honor the pain embedded in it. And we reclaim it as a declaration of promise: that those who have been “got” by the system deserve to be gotten by community, by care, and by justice.
Got Got Studios stands at that intersection — where acknowledgment becomes action, and where art becomes a vehicle for truth-telling, healing, and collective transformation.
New Orleans carries that weight acutely. It is a city with one of the highest incarceration rates in the nation, where housing displacement, health inequity, and wrongful prosecution concentrate in the same communities, generation after generation.
Got Got Studios
was born from this reality —
and is built to respond to it.
OUR VISION
Got Got Studios exists to render justice tangible —
not as metaphor, but as material reality.
We envision a New Orleans where artists from communities most impacted by the justice system shape public consciousness, where legal aid is sustainably funded by the culture that surrounds it, and where creative expression is a recognized force in policy change.
In a city that feels at once haunted by its past and hopeful for its future, we offer a space where beauty and accountability converge — and where that convergence produces something real.

Our Approach
Art as Testimony: We uplift artists whose work bears witness to resilience, identity, and the structural forces that shape our lives.
Art as Intervention: A portion of every sale directly funds legal aid, ensuring that creativity becomes a mechanism for material change.
Art as Imagination: We curate experiences that invite the public to envision a more equitable future—and to participate in its creation.
Art as Community: The artists we partner with are not outside observers — they are members of the communities most directly shaped by the systems we work to change. Their voices, experiences, and creative visions are central to everything we do. Got Got Studios is accountable to the communities it serves, not only to the funders and collectors who support it.
HOW ART FUNDS JUSTICE
OUR MODEL
Every artwork sold contributes directly to legal aid organizations working to:
- Prevent wrongful convictions
- Protect tenants and fight housing insecurity
- Challenge health-harming laws and policies
- Provide representation to those who cannot afford it
Our legal aid partners are selected through a rigorous vetting process that prioritizes organizations with deep community roots, demonstrated outcomes, and a commitment to structural — not just individual — change. We report publicly on funds distributed, cases supported, and community outcomes annually.
